Hi, I'm Katie. I teach mindfulness and yoga to help people come home to themselves just as they are, through the cultivation of kind awareness in movement, stillness and daily life.

Mindfulness and yoga have helped me to find more joy in life and how to navigate the inevitable challenges of life with greater ease, skilfulness and compassion. This is why I trained to teach, so I can share these benefits with my community.

My journey to becoming a yoga teacher...

Hilariously, I first practiced yoga at age 14 with a Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice!) yoga DVD in my bedroom. However, it wasn't until my early 20s that I started to practice regularly.

I finally took the plunge to become a teacher myself after spending a winter ski season in Japan living with an amazing yoga teacher called Kanami who ran the ski resort yoga studio. She was the most amazing teacher and also totally down to earth, which made me realise I didn't need to be enlightened or be able to float off my mat to train to teach.

My first teacher training was with the goddess Julia McCabe from Canada in a truly idyllic Ayurvedic centre in Goa, India. I have slowly grown my little teaching business over the years and trained and practiced with many more incredible teachers.

I have been practicing mindfulness since 2014 and it is no small thing to say that this practice has totally changed my life. I found mindfulness at a very low time in my life. The doctor was offering me anti-depressants but it just didn't feel like the right choice for me at the time. Then, my wonderful Mum gave me a book on mindfulness which had a course in it and meditations to follow. This helped set me on a path to recovery.

Since then my practice has helped me to navigate the highs and inevitable lows of life with more ease, presence and compassion.

Many hours of meditating, mindfulness courses and retreats later, I decided to train to teach mindfulness so I could share its much needed wisdom with others. In 2019-2021 I studied for two years at Bangor University to receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Mindfulness-Based approaches.

I am now continuing my teacher training with the Mindfulness network, working towards the highest level of mindfulness teacher training certification available in the UK. This is a long and rich teaching training pathway and will take many years to fully complete. Currently, I am qualified level 1 teacher (with over 1000hours of training).

Through the masters I am trained to teach the evidence-based eight week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course (MBSR) which empirical research has shown to help skilfully manage a range of mental and physical difficulties, such as anxiety disorders, chronic pain, fibromyalgia.
